The fruits of my labour

Alien_1_Crysis2

So, I think I should have posted this quite some time ago, but never really got around to it. What you see in the picture above is one of the Crysis 2 aliens, which I had the pleasure of being the main Rigger for. You can see several more of them in the videos released by Crytek some time ago:

And this was a press conference demo which features quite a few of the aliens, as well as one of the bigger guys you get to fight in the game:

Crysis 2: Post Euro-GamesCon Updates

Crytek - GamesCon Picture
Although I didn’t attend the GamesCon myself, it was quite nice to find out that Crytek and Crysis 2 have been received rather well, and have even won some awards:
- “Best European Studio”
- “Most Wanted Game” of 2010
- “Best PC Game” – Gamescom
- “Best Shooter” – Gamestar and Gamepro Magazines
- “Best PC Game of this year’s Gamescom” – GamingXP

I think this is quite great news, especially the game awards, considering how much sweat and blood the guys here at the studio have put into Crysis 2 development.

The game is really starting to look amazing now as well. Visually, I think we will be very high up on the charts. We have also revealed what our UK Office has been working on, which is the Multiplayer for Crysis 2. Here is a vid from the Gamescon:

Finally got my Classical Animation Lightbox!

Finally got my Classical Animation Lightbox!

I have always wanted a light box for myself (a normal one is quite simple), since about the time I was 15. But only after getting into animation did I finally realize that one thing I truly want is a classical animation table to finally be able to start learning the craft of the Old Masters of the Golden Age. One of the main advantages I really wanted was the ability to rotate the disk, which was not easy to make on your own without some serious tools. I simply cannot wait to start using it. Preston Blair’s “Cartoon Animation” will finally be studied in and out. I have also ordered a DVD from Animator’s Bootcamp, the first set they released. Should be an interesting watch, and I am sure I could use some visual lessons on how to work on these tables. Rolling pages is still quite hard, but I’ll get there! Heh, and by the looks of it, Richard Williams’ “Animator’s Survioval Kit” will also get a re-reading from core to core! Oh man! I simply can’t wait!

The table I got is one from Chromacolour, an animation supplies store in UK. It is a 12f portable animation table with a basic plastic disk, a light, attachable to the actual table, a plastic peg bar with Acme pegs, and an additional metal one. I will try to post the actual pictures, meanwhile you can check it out HERE.
